Understanding heat rejection / reduction may be more complicated and confusing to a layman, as many vendors in the market are misrepresenting Infrared Heat as FULL HEAT, and temperature reduction exaggeratedly.
In actual fact, overall heat comprises of the three parts in the solar spectrum, namely UV (Ultraviolet), VL (Visible Light) and IR (Infrared). This is defined by the term TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejection) in most specification datasheet. We should take note that Infrared Heat is not equal to the overall heat that our skin feels when we stand beside the windows. Infrared heat portion only accounts to approximately 53% of the overall heat we feel.
In today’s technology, many solar films are capable of rejecting IR above 90%. If heat, or overall heat can be reduced by 97%, does that mean there is no more heat at all after installing films? Or, if indoor temperature can be reduced by 6 deg-C or more, does that mean we do not need aircon anymore? As a consumer, we should be more conscious of facts and logic when understand the product, and not allow marketing advertisements to rule over our rationality.
Installation is preferably carried out under clean and desirable environment. An example of undesirable condition is during renovation stage, where a lot of dust are present everywhere in the premise. As films are very sensitive to dust/dirt, installation carried out under such condition will have a much higher chance of dust particles present.
All films have a life span, and replacement may be required when the films had deteriorated. Depending on many factors, the life span of your films will vary. On an average basis, all films under our solar control series will last 5 years or longer before any sign of wear and tear is noticed.
In order for us to quote accurately, we need to drop by on-site for a measurement of all required window panels. A floor plan will not be helpful as it does not depict the dimensions of the individual window panel, especially the height.
